Hello dear members

I'm delighted to present you with the second edition of our newsletter "Le Copechagnière". It gives me great pleasure to send you my warmest greetings at the start of summer.

I hope this new edition will inform, entertain and inspire you over the coming weeks. Your feedback and encouragement are our greatest motivation, and we do our utmost to offer you quality and varied content.

As you browse through your newsletter, you'll be able to read part 3ᵉ of "Happiness in the Face of Misery" by Cécile Pomerleau, the marriage contract of Jean-Baptiste Vachon and Victoria Dumas and the minutes of our general meeting last year, enhanced by the report of the 2023 presidency. Please have your comments and suggestions ready to send to your Board of Directors, and register for the 2024 event as soon as possible.

This year's gathering will be special once again, as we'll be in the charming village of Lotbinière, which this year marks its 300ᵉ anniversary. With its built heritage officially recognized by the Quebec government, which has identified seven classified cultural properties, including the Saint-Louis church, the Saint-Louis procession chapel and many others, which our speaker and guide from the Société du Patrimoine et histoire des seigneuries de Lotbinière will present to us. Not to mention the various local merchants at the Pôle agroalimentaire and the public market held every Saturday during the summer. To this end, we've set aside a period after lunch for you to visit the various stalls of local producers and merchants.

Don't wait until summer to tell us about your participation in this event, and even about your intention to take part in the administration of your family association. Take the time to read all the information about this gathering and our Annual General Meeting in the centre pages of this newsletter. I hope to see more member than last year at this gathering, which we are organizing especially for all of you.

In recent years, the Association's financial situation has become more difficult, although the cost of membership dues is the same as it was when the Association was founded in 1996. As a result, the Board of Directors will be proposing an adjustment to membership dues at the Annual General Meeting on September 7, 2024.

We look forward to hearing from you and registering for our AGM on September 7.

We organize the annual gathering for you to meet and share, not just for the members of the Board.

I wish you pleasant reading and thank you for your loyalty and interest in our newsletter.

Sincerely yours

Maurice Vachon, President
