Our 30th Anniversary in Sainte-Marie

We celebrated a very special event in Sainte-Marie this year: our Association’s 30th anniversary! Our annual gathering took place at the Sainte-Marie Recreation Centre on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

My wish to bring together 30 people to mark our 30th anniversary came true! There were 29 of us in the hall, joined by our fellow member Léandre Vachon, who participated via video conference. This excellent turnout helped make the day truly memorable.

A big thank you to our organizers—Carol Vachon, René Vachon, and Gaétane Pomerleau—for their dedication, time, and hard work in preparing for this gathering. Not forgetting Marie-Marthe Pomerleau for the coffee and treats. Thanks also to everyone who attended our get-together; your presence and enthusiasm are vital to the life of our Association. We also thank Dominic Saindon for the pens she provided for our 30th anniversary.

A highly appreciated new feature
This year, we offered an additional activity on Friday evening: a visit to the Maison J.-A. Vachon, followed by dinner at the Normandin restaurant. This new format was a big hit, with 22 participants joining us for the evening.

In this third newsletter of 2026
You will find, among other things:
• the continuation of the text from Cécile Pomerleau’s book about her ancestor Henrius, titled "Le bonheur face à la misère" (Happiness in the Face of Hardship); • a recap of our gathering on August 29, 2026, along with several photos that will let you relive some of the day’s wonderful moments;
• and, of course, some news from your Association.

Already looking ahead to the next gathering!
We have barely finished celebrating our 30th anniversary, and we are already gearing up for our next gathering! We invite you to share your suggestions for places to visit and activities you would like to experience at our next event. Your ideas are always welcome!

In closing, I wish everyone a wonderful autumn season and—with the holiday season just around the corner—a very happy holiday season with your loved ones.

Always proud and hardworking
